Babysitting/nanny jobs.
I’ve applied for many.
I’ve worked with children. I teach children to play music both in private and classroom settings. I’ve worked in Sunday School. I’m pretty qualified to watch over children. I suppose I could keep my cpr certification a little more updated, but other than that I am just as capable a candidate as any female.
I never get hired to babysit or be a nanny. I’ve watched friends kids before, but they never paid me.
I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but there seems to be some kind of prejudice that it’s not safe to leave your kids with males, as if all males are either pedophiles or so categorically irresponsible that they’ll let your kids hang themselves from the balcony with jump ropes.
You can’t blame that on “the patriarchy”. If this was the fault of “the patriarchy”, people would love to have males watch their kids since a big strong male would be in charge and enforce good values or some stupid shit like that.
When was the last time you considered hiring a male babysitter? The boy from next door maybe, who spends his free time reading encyclopedias and helping out at the food pantry. Or is he also just a closet pedophile?
